Hi there,

My name is Bronwyn Ngatai. I live in New Zealand. I am married to Tom and we have 4 teenagers in our family and one black cat. My husband has been an invalid since 1996 due to multiple medical problems and I am needed to help care for him at home. We were more than $90,000.00 in debt and facing a really unknown future. We had to watch as business assets and personal assets that were almost, but not quite paid for, were repossessed. The daunting task of fronting up to creditors came next! My husband was too ill to do this so it was up to me. Going through this at the same time facing eviction from the home we were renting was some degree of stress that at the time you think you may not make it through.

However, as bad as it seemed I learnt some very valuable lessons. The main one being communication. Real, honest communication did wonders to get us through that time. We never went bankrupt. 10 years on we are no longer facing those hurdles.

In 2001 I purchased my first computer that would be connected to the Internet. Wow... I hadn't even seen a web page and an e-mail was something I hadn't heard of. It felt like I'd suddenly emerged from the dim dark ages! I was determined that I was going to discover the Internet.

Today, some 5 years later I can write html, create flash files, understand cgi and php and other things. I learned to compile ebooks and all those things that go together to create an online business. As I searched by joining Newsletters, Ezines, reading articles, getting involved in forums and so on I was learning even more about how people express their wants, needs and desires.

What about Leads, Contacts and Prospects...

I had read what most online marketers were saying about lists. You have to get your list built! Yeah... its true. As a newbie I would sign up for this list building program and that one. I joined up with the traffic exchanges and promoted my web site link there. I submitted to the search engines and so on. All the time my hit counter would go up and I'd get some sign ups but never a sale.

Something was not right! Then it hit me! Smack!!!

What I was doing was going through an automated process. There was no relationship building in my marketing process. Nobody knew me or what I was about so why should they trust me? In the business we had previously, we had built up relationships with people and organisations.

Then began the search to find real people online and the process of building relationships. This does take time and work. It takes consistency.
